Watson Hydroelectric Project
The Watson Hydro Facility is located at the Watson Reservoir, southeast of Sisters, Oregon. The local irrigation district decided to pipe the existing canal that flows into the Watson Reservoir and generate electricity using the available hydraulic head.
HTE Engineering’s services were provided for the supply, start-up, and testing of the turbine, generator, controls, and associated equipment. The powerhouse at this site accommodates accommodate a single 700 kW horizontal Francis unit.
The rated flow at this site is 56 cubic feet per second, and the rated net hydraulic head is 178 feet. Construction is nearly complete, and the project will be on-line in August 2014.
