Heuvelton Hydro Rubber Dam
The Heuvelton Hydro facility, owned by Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners, is located on the Oswegatchie River in the village of Heuvelton, New York. The facility uses two inflatable rubber dam bladders in conjunction with four tainter gates to maintain the upstream water level for power generation.
The Heuvelton Hydro facility originally installed Bridgestone inflatable rubber dam equipment in the summer of 1994. The Bridgestone equipment served its functional life for 17 years and has had a recent need for replacement.
HTE Engineering was contracted to provide the two replacement bladders, with each being 28 feet long and 10.9 feet tall when fully inflated.
